Why Quora is so political

Quora is a website full of questions and answers from everyday people, the mega wealth of content is massive, yet deep down inside the rankings of the website is followed by a sleuth of moderators who like to keep everything in house and despise any sort of content linking to the outside world. Quora doesn’t like it when you link to the outside world as they don’t want there SEO traffic going out but prefer to have the content coming back in. After speaking with one of the moderators, they informed us with the following, ” The workflow at Quora is extremely strict and the owners have often told us that any user who posts a website link, the link is to be removed and the post is to be deleted. People will post a wealth of information to questions yet Quora Staff will end up deleting the content and leaving the question with a dumbed down version of the answer which in turn is really no help to the poster. Quora owners want everything to be just for them”.

Paid vs Normal Users

Paid members get access to more content and also a website that has no ads, compared to a normal user who gets ads. Well that isn’t entirely true, a normal user can also benefit from an abundance of no ads by using the FireFox browser and just a handful of ad blockers to enjoy a free ride on no bullshit ads. Using the following setup will enjoy you a lovely ride of no ads:

Using the following ad blockers will present you a nice trip without ever seeing an ad on Quora.

Paid users content also gets moderated and even deleted, the same way the content is moderated through for the free user. Some the the moderators expressed there concern over Quora and the content that is posted. As a service, Quora is safe and reliable. However, Quora users and the content they post are not always trustworthy. Like many social media-like services, it could contribute to doomscrolling and misinformation. Thus, validating all information you find online through sites like Quora is crucial.

Algorithms

The algorithms on Quora are so messy that just about every single post is under the needle and scrutinized at the content that is posted simply because they the owners want to keep everything in house and not actually let anything out. It is extremely hard to have the content that is posted even checked. With today’s technology and the content available through AI it is really hard to say yes this content is approved or no it isn’t. It all comes down to guess work with the algorithms in play and the lost of actual fact and instead negative content being posted. If you went looking for answers and you stumbled across the content on Quora, I would think twice about using that content and head to Google and find out the answers yourself, then maybe use one of the AI bots to see if the content matches. Quora content can’t all be trusted.
