Getting an SMTP server for sending email
One of the most frequent questions our customers ask is where to get an SMTP server for sending emails via Atomic Mail Sender. There are quite a few options.
- Your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
- Free email services (Gmail and others)
- Your hosting
- Commercial SMTP services
- Self-hosted or rented server (dedicated or VPS)
SMTP from Your ISP
ISPs do not want you to send commercial emails through their SMTP servers so the number of emails you can send is very low. However this can be ok for smaller lists. However first go to your ISP�s website and look for pages like Acceptable Use Policies, Terms of Service, etc. to find out how many emails you can send.
Free email services with SMTP support
Many web-based email services support SMTP protocol, so you can use Atomic Mail Sender to send newsletters. Just like ISPs, they have outgoing mail restrictions (usually a few hundred emails a day). You can use several SMTP accounts because Atomic Mail Sender supports rotation of SMTP accounts.
SMTP that comes with hosting
Most of marketers and business owners have a website and email addresses like [email protected]. You can send emails to people who sign up to your newsletters using this your business email.
